By which key are utility costs allocated?
Absent any differing agreement, operating costs are allocated by the share of living area (§ 556a para. 1 BGB). By contract, an occupant-based or consumption-based key is also possible.
How do I calculate my share?
Your share is your value (e.g. your living area) divided by the total (e.g. total living area), multiplied by the total costs.
