Which costs may the landlord pass on?
Only the 17 categories of cost exhaustively listed in § 2 BetrKV (e.g. property tax, water, heating, garden maintenance, caretaker) may be passed on to tenants.
Are administration and repair costs allocable?
No. Administration costs, maintenance/repairs and reserves are expressly not allocable and must be deducted from the statement.
Are cable TV costs still allocable?
Since the abolition of the cable TV privilege (Nebenkostenprivileg) in July 2024, ongoing cable-TV charges are generally no longer allocable. The check flags such items as „disputed“.
